GE August Update

Soft Launch:  The new General Education (GE) program will soft launch in Spring 2022, initially serving Spring 2022 matriculants. The current Tiers program and the new program will operate in parallel for several years until the Tiers program is phased out.

Website: The new GE program now has a devoted website: https://ge.arizona.edu. The website contains information about the curriculum, proposing courses, and updates about the program.

Instructor Support Programs: The Office of General Education (OGE) will offer several Instructor Support Programs throughout the Fall 2021 semester, including:

  • Quick Start, a module-based mini-course for instructors preparing courses in the new program;
  • Deep Dive Sessions, one-hour webinars dive into specific components of the General Education Refresh through interactive presentation;
  • ePortfolio Coffee Chats; and
  • GE Office Hours (by appointment).

Advisor Lunch & Learn Sessions: OGE and the Advising Resource Center (ARC) will be hosting several Lunch & Learn Sessions to support advisors in anticipation of the upcoming Spring 2022 soft launch. The first Advisor Lunch & Learn will take place on Wednesday, September 8.

Newsletter: OGE will publish a newsletter on the last Monday of every month excepting December and summer months (May-July). This month's newsletter features stories about the soft launch in Spring 2022, OGE Instructor Support Programs, an introduction to the Office of Instruction & Assessment (OIA), and the new UArizona Teaching Models website.
