Aimee Mapes, Ph.D.

Writing Attribute Coordinator

At UArizona, I am former  Assistant Director of the Writing Program (2013 - 2019) and current Associate Professor in Rhetoric, Composition, and the Teaching of English. My PhD in Literacy Studies cultivated my interest in and commitment to Writing Across the Curriculum. I experienced the strength of WAC firsthand as a postdoctoral fellow in Duke University’s award-winning, interdisciplinary Thompson Writing Program where I collaborated with fellows in fields such as Anthropology, Dramaturgy,  Environmental Science, and History. As Director of Writing Across the Curriculum, I collaborate with OIA’s Writing and Learning Project, and I am Associate Editor for Prompt: A Journal of Writing Assignments, which is a scholar-run, open-access, peer-reviewed online journal focused on effective writing assignments across the disciplines.
