Three students try to estimate the number of M&Ms.

A collaboration between the Center for Assessment, Teaching and Technology (UCATT), the University of Arizona Libraries, and the Office of General Education, Destination Imagination highlighted the fun people can have by engaging in quantitative reasoning. By thinking critically about numbers, statistics, and data, we're able to answer all sorts of questions--the big, the small, and the very, very silly.

Speaking of: How many M&Ms were in that jar? After consulting our own team of quantitative experts (who averaged three calculations of mass, weight, and serving size), we had our answer: 1,970 M&Ms. Incredibly, the winner of the contest was only 6 M&Ms off with a guess of 1,964!

We look forward to another exciting trip to Imagination Destination in 2024!
