Quick Start Live-Online

Description: This is an intensive, cohort-based mini-course that will enable instructors to rapidly adapt their course for the new GE program. Upon completion of the Live-Online, instructors will submit their Course Proposal Form to the University Wide General Education Committee (UWGEC) for batch review. All Quick Start Live-Online courses will run for a full two weeks (including both synchronous and asynchronous engagement).

Intended Audience: The Quick Start Live-Online is intended for instructors working to transition their existing GE course into the new program for the Fall 2022 rollout. Involvement in the Live-Online is highly encouraged but not required for instructors submitting course proposals to the new GE program, however participation in either the Live-Online or Self-Paced Quick Start is required for submission.

Registration: Please contact Katie Southard(link sends e-mail) for registration. Courses will be capped at 30 participants.

Upcoming Dates:

  • Stay tuned! More Quick Start Live-Online Cohorts will be offered, dates/times TBA.

How is this helpful?: The Quick Start Live-Online will provide the same information and materials as the self-paced Quick Start with the addition of collaborative workshops led by faculty and staff in the GE Office. Instructors will be able to ask questions, troubleshoot, and workshop materials with colleagues who are knowledgeable about the new GE curriculum. By the end of the course, instructors will have a completed Course Proposal Form to send to UWGEC for review.

How long will it take?: The Quick Start Live Online will encompass two full weeks (M-F) with synchronous (~1hr/day, T/Th) and asynchronous (~1hr/day, M/W/F) daily engagements. Asynchronous course components will cover the new curriculum and course proposal form preparation requirements. Participants will also engage in synchronous, collaborative sessions to workshop their course transition elements with the active support of faculty and staff from the GE Office.
