Katie Southard, Ph.D.
As an educational developer, Katie's work in general education includes curricular and pedagogical support for instructors across disciplines. She has published topics such as instructors’ conceptual change during instructional reform, the benefits of instructional-team models in undergraduate STEM classrooms, and knowledge building and generative mechanistic explanations in undergraduate biology education. Her training and disciplinary background includes a Ph.D. in Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER) (spanning Molecular and Cellular Biology and Science Education Research) and BS degrees in Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology and Biochemistry. Her postdoctoral work focused on instructor change and innovative instructional team models.
